MOPA's Artful Conversation at the San Diego Public Library

I was recently invited by the Central Library in Downtown San Diego to present about our upcoming exhibition 30x: Three Decades. I am a big fan of the San Diego Public Library and the programs they offer. I have worked on partnerships with them in the past, and I am very excited to speak in front of their visitors.

My plan for the presentation is to use an approach similar to what we do with our art talks for the SEPIA senior citizen programs. I will show a selection of some of my favorite images from the exhibition and encourage discussion around the subjects of the photographs, as well as pointing out the aesthetic elements of the photograph. I will also talk about MOPA's history and the breadth of our collection. I have not decided which images I will put in my presentation, but I am perusing the checklist of images for the show for a handful that really capture the spirit of MOPA's 30-year history.

I am hoping this is a chance for us to do more regular presentations with the libraries in San Diego. We have a great network of libraries here, and having a stronger relationship with them would be good for all of us.

The event is free to the public and will be held on Tuesday, February 12, 2013 at 2:00PM in the 3rd floor auditorium at the Central Library, 820 E Street, San Diego, CA, 92101. Please come by, check out the presentation, and come say hello if you get a chance.
