Here we have daily life of people who have chosen to return to the mountains, a mciro-phenomenon in reverse of the depopulation from mountain regions. While we encounter different existential choices, made for various reasons, they all are united in a single goal: seeking an answer beginning with nature.

The best-known images of the Italian immigrant in the United States are those of the millions who settled in the large cities of the East Coast. The Italian immigrant experience in the West Coast is less well known. The producers of “Pane Amaro/Bitter Bread” the critically-acclaimed documentary on the Italian immigration to the East Coast, who are currently making a documentary on the story of the Italian immigration to California, will show a “work in progress” of their new film, which will also focus on San Diego and its Little Italy.
