Presented by the National Endowment for the Arts & Arts Midwest --Big Read, this event shares stories about the hearts and minds of soldiers who return home from war.

12:00 PM: Enjoy an encore screening of “Burned” (21 minutes) introduced by BET’s award winning filmmaker, Phyllis Toben Bancroft, a film about a female Air Force Veteran who returns home from Iraq and faces issues dealing with PTSD.

Interlude: Musical by award-winning guitarist, Lisa Sanders and readings from The Things They Carried.

1:00 PM: See a Staged Reading of “Medal of Honor Rag” by Tom Cole. This award-winning one-act play is based on the true life of Dale “D.J.” Jackson, a Vietnam Vet from Detroit, who was awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor for his heroic efforts in Vietnam, yet he suffered with “traumatic grief.” Directed by Antonio “T.J.” Johnson with Joe Powers, Abner Genece, and Joshua Jones
