Sounds of Jazz Loft Spotlight on Jazz Saxophonist Ian Tordella

08.02.2012 5:30 pm

Join us for the first Thursday in June, July, and August for an evening solo jazz session in MOPA’s galleries, featuring celebrated local musicians selected by Jazz 88.3. Experience the current exhibition, The Jazz Loft Project: W. Eugene Smith in NYC, 1957-1965, while the music of the time is performed live!

FEATURED JAZZ SOLOIST: Saxophonist Ian Tordella is an emerging voice on the West Coast jazz scene, and has worked with guitarist Peter Sprague, pianist Joshua White, saxophonist Jason Robinson, and others. His sound is rooted in the hard-bop players of the ‘50s and ‘60s, drawing inspiration from Sonny Stitt, Hank Mobley, Joe Henderson, Wayne Shorter, and Coltrane.
