Metamorfosis - Filmed at one of the places with the highest radioactive contamination on the planet, the documentary tells the story of a group of Russians living near the rugged Mayak nuclear plant, which is still operating. Through impeccable and extraordinary photography, Mez is able to capture the radioactive dangers, invisible to all, and the courage of the people who cope with it. Dir. Sebastian Mez | 2013 | 84 min.
Screening at 1:00pm
The Mexican / American Tapes - What happens when the "illegal" Mexicans, pursued by U.S. immigration authorities and vilified in the media, potentially become citizens of the United States? The answer lies in the lives of former neighbors of the director, Louis Hock. This version, which the filmmaker created specifically for Ambulate, mixes two documentaries (The Mexican Tapes and The American Tapes) and shows four undocumented Mexican families in two periods: when they came to California in 1970 and the life they now lead in both the United States and Mexico. Dir. Louis Hock | United States | 1986, 2012 | English , Spanish | 134 min.
Screening at 3:00pm - Q&A discussion to follow with filmmaker, Louis Hock.
