Redemption: Photography by David Quintanilla

In partnership with The San Diego Multicultural LGBT Literary Foundation, MOPA is hosting the pop-up exhibition Redemption, starting Aug. 11 for Late Night Thursday

Redemption is a provocative photography exhibition that explores the complexity of self-definition for a gay man of color by photographer David Quintanilla. Redemption promises to be one of the most thought-provoking and evocative art events in San Diego. The exhibit opens at MOPA in Balboa Park with an opening wine reception Aug. 11 at 7 p.m. The exhibition runs till Aug. 14 and will feature breathtaking images of gay men of color creating their own identity.

It's no accident when wealthy Charles (Henry Fonda) falls for Jean (Barbara Stanwyck). Jean is a con artist with her sights set on Charles' fortune. Matters complicate when Jean starts falling for her mark. When Charles suspects Jean is a gold digger, he dumps her. Jean, fixated on revenge and still pining for the millionaire, devises a plan to get back in Charles' life. With love and payback on her mind, she re-introduces herself to Charles, this time as an aristocrat named Lady Eve Sidwich.

Far in the northeast corner of Italy, where border changes made this spot orphan territory, Paolo, grumpy cook in an old folks home, spends his time drinking local wine, until he learns of an inheritance in the neighboring town in Slovenia. Instead of wealth, Paolo gets Zoran, a gawky teen with no redeeming qualities as far as Paolo can see. But then Zoran finds a way of teaming up with Paolo. Can Zoran survive his adventure? This Italian dish is all sweet and sour delicious!

Pokémon GO Museum Night

Pack your Poké Balls and prepare for a night out at the museum. On Aug. 25, the Museum of Photographic Arts invites Pokémon GO trainers to catch them all in the galleries. Simply open the app up at the front desk and receive free admission after 5 p.m. to capture wild Pokémon inside MOPA.
