Thanks to all who came out to support MOPA's Photo Auction 2011 earlier this month. The event was a huge success for the Museum and almost all of the gorgeous art (generously donated by galleries, artists and collectors) found a new home. I would like to offer a special thanks to Andrea Fiucyznski, president of Christie's Los Angeles, who presided over our auction, as well as our brilliant designer, Terri Mitchell, of PR1ZE.
Yesterday, I stopped in to The Frame Maker to watch Tom Houk and his team in action as they framed a vibrant piece by Patrick Ryoichi Nagatani for the upcoming Photo Auction. The team brings craft and soul to the process, calling MOPA staff on a daily basis to ensure framing is just right for every piece.
Photography has inspired and fascinated me since I first realized my father taught photography. Over the years, I’ve found myself constantly drawn to images with elements of fashion and spontaneity. At MOPA, we’ve been bringing together all sorts of amazing work for the inaugural launch of our Photo Auction, taking place on Wednesday, October 5th. One donation in particular comes from Autumn de Wilde, a photographer whose work I’ve admired for some time.
