Face to Face: Works from the Bank of America Collection

through Sep 25
20 May, 2011 - 25 Sep, 2011

Face to Face explores one of the largest corporate collections of photography in the United States, illuminating the rich historical diversity of photographic portraiture. The exhibition includes some of the earliest techniques, including a salt paper print from the 1840s by David Octavius Hill and Robert Adamson, and a half-plate daguerreotype by Albert Southworth and Josiah Johnson Hawes. Other works include portraits by masters of the medium such as Yousuf Karsh, Lisette Model, Tina Barney, Rineke Dijkstra, Walker Evans and Richard Avedon. Face to Face is provided by the Bank of America, Art in Our Communites Program.

Be a part of the exhibition! Take an Avedon inspired photo in our "portrait studio" and share it on our Flickr group. Your photo may be featured digitally in our gallery!
