Can I purchase a reduced membership if I’ve already purchased a one-time admission ticket?
Yes, visitors who purchase a one-time ticket to the galleries can apply that cost to any level of membership. In order to receive a discount, you must provide proof of your admission ticket, such as a receipt or sticker. If you do not have a receipt, contact the membership department for approval.
- Do members need to pay extra for any exhibitions?
For calendar year 2008 - 2009, members will not need to pay extra for any exhibitions in the galleries. Members will always receive ample notice if for any reason there will be a specialty charge on a particular exhibition.
- Can I purchase a membership for my child?
Starting at the Dual/ Family Level, children under the age of 18 are included as a part of the membership cost. They do not need their own membership cards.
- What is a guest pass?
Guest passes are one time use tickets to the Museum. They are valid for Museum access except during our specially ticketed events such as photography lectures and workshops, and some film screenings. Guest pass holders do not have to be accompanied by a member.
- What is the difference between a guest pass and a Guest of card?
Guest passes are one time use tickets whereas the Guest of card is valid for the duration of the membership. It can be passed on from person to person and the cardholder does not need to be accompanied by the member. A Guest of card holder also can receive discounts on events and in the store. In general, anyone who owns a Guest of card is treated just like as a specified member.
Contact the Membership Manager for more information, 619.238.7559x202.
- If I am a member, am I invited to attend exibition opening receptions?
The benefit of attending receptions begins at the Student, Educator and Senior levels. You should receive invitations for these events in the mail and through email. Platinum Circle members and above receive invitations to special VIP opening receptions.
- Why do you need my phone number and email address?
The Museum asks for this information in order to invite you to openings, events, lectures, and films. We also use it to get in touch with you about any administrative issues that may arise (returned mail, etc.). Email is another method by which we contact our members -- we send out MoPA Snapshot e-newsletters and member specific email notifications. MoPA will not sell or trade your phone or email information.
- Do members have to pay for POP Thursdays?
No. Members receive free admission to POP. Just show your card at the Membership/VIP Check-in Table.
- What do I do if my card is lost or stolen?
Contact the membership office or admissions and we will send you a replacement card.

- Do members have to pay for Films, Lectures and Workshops?
Yes, in most cases members will pay a discounted admission for general films, lectures and workshops. Depending on your level of membership, members may present to admissions a one-time free film or lecture pass for any film or lecture of their choosing [lecture passes have a one-year expiration].
Members will always receive ample notice prior to a FREE Members’ Preview Screening or FREE lecture.
Now through June 2009: To show our member appreciation, MoPA films & lectures will be FREE (yes FREE!) to MoPA members
