The buzz this week is the upcoming official local premier of “I Am Not A Hipster,” screening this Friday at MOPA in partnership with San Diego Film Festival and Sezio.  I Am Not A Hipster has deep roots in San Diego and was an official selection in the 2012 Sundance Film Festival.

"I Am Not A Hipster" was shot in San Diego by SDSU grads and focuses on the San Diego indie music scene. Writer/Director Dustin Destin Cretton short film Short Term 12 won the Jury Prize at Sundance in 2009.

The screenings are this Friday at 6:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m.  Joel P. West, of The Tree Ring, created the band Canines for the film and wrote the songs performed in the movie. Canines will be making a rare live performance during the reception between the two screenings.

El Dorado is serving their signature cocktail, the Russian Mule, and we'll the kind folks at Stella Artois.

Come out this Friday to support San Diego’s creative community. Proceeds of the event on Friday will benefit the film, and Producer Ron Najor has just launched a Kickstarter online fundraiser to help get funds for distributing and promoting the film.
