Points of Entry: Tracing Cultures
Introduction by Andy Grundberg
Essays by Rebecca Solnit and Ronald Takaki

This catalogue documents one of three exhibitions that together constitute "Points of Entry," a unique collaboration among three photography museums that focuses on a central defining issue of American life: immigration. Focusing on issues that are simultaneously personal and political, "Tracing Cultures" presents the work of contemporary artists who have chosen to use photography to directly address their experience of cultural migration and change. Through photographs and photography-based installation art, the book explores themes of cross-cultural adjustment in America through the eyes of photographers Albert Chong, Lewis deSoto, I.T.O., Young Kim, Komar & Melamid, Dinh Q. Le, Gavin Lee, Maria Martinez-Canas, Ruben Ortiz Torres, Carrie Mae Weems, and Kim Yasuda.
