It has always been part of the original MoPA design to incorporate
all of the photographic arts. In March of 2000, with the help
of a generous donation from Joan and Irwin Jacobs, Director Arthur
Ollman’s goal of providing a film program became a reality.
Located in the middle of San Diego’s culturally rich Balboa
Park resides, alongside our photography exhibition, a cinematic
crown jewel. The Joan & Irwin Jacobs Theater is an intimate,
comfortable space for one to tap into the history of cinema. Although
the museum's regularly scheduled film program is currently on
hiatus, MoPA is presently working with other organizations to
show film in our theater. Click here to find out what's
playing next.
