SUPPORT MoPA

Help the Museum of Photographic Arts continue to present world-class exhibitions, stimulating education programs, and a one-of-kind film program. There are many ways to support the museum. Make a donation online.

You can make a difference: support MoPA exhibitions!
New ideas, exploration, appreciation, learning, wonder, and sharing—the Museum of Photographic Arts offers all of this and more. MoPA is about ideas and opportunities to explore all that photography and film have to offer.

Thanks to yearly support from donors like you, more than 120,000 visitors attended our exhibitions in 2007, and MoPA inspired over 9,000 children and their teachers through our education programs. The general public benefited from several lectures featuring photographers such as Graham Nash, Steve McCurry, and Don Bartletti.

MoPA is celebrating its 25th year as a museum. The next quarter of a century will showcase MoPA as an active participant in redefining the future of photography and film in a society that is visually oriented. We will reach new and diverse audiences by reexamining the history and exploring new work in photography and film. We will continue to showcase our youth programs, and we are working towards having our library and collections accessible online.

Matching Campaign
To help prepare for the next 25 years, MoPA is pleased to announce exciting new fundraising initiatives spearheaded by a matching campaign that will run throughout this anniversary year. The Joan and Irwin Jacobs Fund of the Jewish Community Foundation of San Diego are providing a dollar for dollar match to all new money secured and/or committed to MoPA in calendar year 2008. This gift will be a catalyst to help broaden our support base as we continue to grow in size and scope. The campaign will run through year-end 2008, with a $300,000 cap. Contributions from both new and existing MoPA donors will be eligible for the dollar for dollar match as long as their commitments are made in calendar year 2008.

Your contribition may be made on-line. In the comment section, please indicate you would like to support MoPA in the Jacob's Challenge. Please know that contributions at any level are always welcomed.

Exhibition Donations
Your support of MoPA, in addition to your membership gift, will help to underwrite our 2008 exhibitions. A contribution of $500 will support A Literacy of Images:
Nancy Newhall and the Art of Photography
(September 20, 2008 – January 25, 2009)
or Picturing the Process: Landscape Through Time and Space (July 12, 2008-February 1, 2009) in our Schwartz Permanent Collection Gallery. For $500, your name will be on the exhibition wall for either exhibition.

Please know that contributions at any level are always welcomed, but a $500 gift towards one of these two exhibitions will be thanked with your name in the Schwartz Permanent Collection Gallery during the run of the exhibition(s).

Donating to the Annual Fund ensures the success of these programs for next year. Your gift is fully tax deductible. Your support and generosity are greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance for your continued interest in MoPA and the dynamic worlds of photography and film.

Exhibitions
Exhibition sponsorship at MoPA offers significant philanthropic and marketing opportunities. It allows you to support a major San Diego cultural institution and to receive substantial exposure and acknowledgment and tax-benefit. Special exhibitions at the museum are among the most respected, publicized, and popular in the city and travel internationally. Sponsorship and underwriting opportunities are available at various levels of commitment. MoPA is pleased to work with you to develop a plan that meets your needs and budget and is delighted to partner with individuals, foundations, corporations, and government agencies to present its exciting exhibitions to a large audience.

Support Art Education
Education program funding opportunities are available at MoPA. The museum offers numerous educational and outreach programs for children and adults. By funding these activities, you support art education and also invest in the future of San Diego.

Reserve a Seat, Preserve the Arts
Make a lasting impact on visual arts in San Diego by naming a seat in the state-of the art Joan and Irwin Jacobs Theater. Your gift will support the museum, while providing you with a special opportunity to make a lasting dedication to your family, your organization, or in honor of a special friend or loved one. In recognition of your gift, MoPA will place an elegant engraved plaque on a theater seat. Each year, thousands of visitors enjoy world-class films from the comfort of named seats in the MoPA theater.

Bequests
Express your dedication to the Museum of Photographic Arts by including the museum in your estate plan. Whether you wish to provide general operating income or to support a specific department or program at the museum, your bequest expresses your lasting commitment to MoPA. A bequest may also help you meet your financial and estate-planning goals, since an estate and gift tax charitable deduction for the entire amount of the gift is allowed.
