Photo|Synthesis: 7th Annual Youth Exhibition

October 7, 2012 – January 27, 2013

(San Diego, CA) May 8, 2012—San Diego’s young photographers take center stage in Photo|Synthesis: 7th Annual Youth Exhibition, which features the creative photographic work of more than 75 local students. This year the exhibition will feature images that address issues about the environment and sustainability, on view at the Museum of Photographic Arts from October 7, 2012 until January 27, 2013.

Photo|Synthesis showcases the creativity and artistic expression of San Diego’s youth through environmentally themed photographs and films. Each year, MOPA’s juried youth exhibition inspires young photographers to share their artistic with MOPA’s visitors. This year, the youth exhibition encourages students to address local or global environmental topics such as energy, ecology, conservation, natural resources, food and water, pollution, or other environmental threats facing our planet. Submissions are juried by a team of museum professionals, photographers, and community members, and selected works are professionally matted, framed, and exhibited in MOPA’s galleries.

“The annual youth exhibition is a powerful expression of MOPA’s longstanding commitment to youth arts education,” said Amber Lucero, director of education and public programs, MOPA. “Not only will it touch the lives of the students who proudly see their work featured in a museum, but it also offer visitors the unique opportunity to view the world from a child’s perspective and engage with the values, dreams and concerns that are found within each student’s work.”
