POP Thursdays Presents the Greatest Hits of the Bicycle Film Festival

The Museum of Photographic Arts (MOPA) is pleased to present its evening film series POP THURSDAYS on Thursday, October 20, featuring the greatest hits of the Bicycle Film Festival, a series of shorts curated by Brendt Barbur. The event begins at 7:00 pm at the Museum of Photographic Arts, with the films starting at 8:00 pm in the Joan & Irwin Jacobs Theater.

POP THURSDAYSat MOPA is proud to present an evening of shorts dedicated to bicycle culture and the green movement, in partnership with the Bicycle Film Festival, the San Diego County Bicycle Coalition and Velo Cult. Culled from the best of short from the past 11 years of the Bicycle Film Festival, the evening will include a screening of 12 short films from around the world.
The Bicycle Film Festival was started when Brendt Barbur, the festival’s found director, was hit by a bus while riding his bike in New York City. Following his recovery, Brendt became an advocate for the urban bike movement and created a film festival to celebrate the bicycle and cyclists through music, art and film.
Admission includes access to MOPA’s galleries to view Infinite Balance: Artists and the Environment, as well as See/Saw: Annual Youth Exhibition. In addition, Velo Cult is curating a special, one-night-only exhibition of vintage and eclectic bicycles. Attendees are encouraged to ride their bike to the event and enjoy a complimentary bike valet, provided by the San Diego County Bicycle Coalition.
MOPA’s nighttime film series, POP THURSDAYS, has established itself as a signature event for San Diego's young and art savvy. The event offers a unique blend of MOPA's world-renowned exhibitions of photography and film, combined with the youthful and creative energy of San Diego's thriving art and film scene.
This event is produced in conjunction with the Bicycle Film Festival, the San Diego County Bicycle Coalition and Velo Cult.
