The Museum of Photographic Arts in San Diego is committed to providing a positive experience for our diverse visitors.

American Sign Language (ASL) Tours & Interpretation

MOPA offers tours in American Sign Language on two weekends during each exhibition. The tours are led by trained tour guides from the deaf community.

Sign Language interpreters may be requested for museum programs.  At least three-weeks notice is required.

Language Access

MOPA’s exhibition wall texts and object labels are available in both English and Spanish.

Memories at the Museum

Quarterly guided tours are offered for individuals with Alzheimer’s or dementia and their caregiver.  Please contact Kevin Linde at 619.238.7559X225 or linde@mopa.org for more information.

Service Animals

Service dogs are welcome inside the museum in accordance with the ADA guidelines. Service dogs must be on a non-retractable leash, less than six feet in length. Pets and emotional support animals are not allowed.

Visitors with Limited Mobility

Accessible parking is available in the lots adjacent to MOPA, and the main museum entrance contains an ADA compliant ramp and automatic entry doors. Different types of seating are placed throughout the galleries. A wheelchair and portable seating is available upon request at the front desk.

Visitors with Low Vision

An electronic low vision magnifier is available for exhibition text panels. Please inquire at the front desk.

Welcome to the Museum of Photographic Arts at The San Diego Museum of Art!

As of July 1, 2023, the Museum of Photographic Arts and The San Diego Museum of Art have merged to become one unified institution. The Museum of Photographic Arts is now the Museum of Photographic Arts at The San Diego Museum of Art (MOPA@SDMA).

MOPA@SDMA remains a pay-what-you wish museum open Thursdays through Sundays 11:00 a.m.– 5:00 p.m.
