Audio Access

Audio tour information is available for select images in the galleries. Visitors will need a cell phone with smart phone technology to access the audio information. The Museum is currently testing its audio tours and will enhance and improve the technology over the next year.  Please contact the Museum if there are specific audio needs.

Language Access

MOPA’s exhibition wall texts and object labels are available in both English and Spanish. Docent tours in Spanish are available with a minimum of two weeks advanced notice.

American Sign Language (ASL) Tours & Interpretation

MOPA is proud to offer tours conducted exclusively in American Sign Language (ASL) by a docent-trained member of the Deaf Community.  ASL tours are currently scheduled once per exhibition cycle.  Please check our calendar for the next scheduled tour.

MOPA is also happy to provide a Sign Language Interpreter for groups that request an interpreter.  These tours must be coordinated a minimum of two weeks in advance.

Large Print Exhibition Texts and Labels

A handheld electronic viewing aid is available at MOPA's front desk.
The Museum is happy to provide a docent to assist a visitor who is visually impaired.  Please contact the Museum a minimum of two weeks prior to your visit.  MOPA’s staff members and docents are ready and able to assist a visitor, however, they are not trained to give descriptive sight tours.

Service Animals

Trained service animals are welcome at MOPA.  Pets are not allowed inside MOPA.



Visitors with Limited Mobility

  • The Museum galleries are accessible to visitors using mobility assistive devices such as wheelchairs and electric scooters.  The Museum galleries, store and restrooms are all located on one level. 
  • The Dubois Library is located on the Mezannine level and is available by appointment only.  Elevator access to the Library is available near the San Diego History Center main entrance. 
  • MOPA’s staff members are ready and able to assist a visitor, however, they are neither trained nor permitted to lift a visitor.  Should it be required, visitors needing this assistance should plan to visit the Museum with someone who can physically assist.
